Prozac Nation

This makes me really sad. My knitting blog and no knitting; lots of other crafty stuff like this:
I made it over the weekend, cool huh? Yeah that was version 1, version 2 will be much better I think. I am also still piecing out the beginnings of the patchwork square. Does anybody have a pattern for a poodle?! I want to knit a poodle applique for a square because I detest intarsia. Oh, I am also embroidering a teatowel from Sublime Stitching with a little blue bird that has a banner. I am going to embroider the word "control" on the banner and mail it to my MIL. I wonder if she'll get the joke.

So the title goes, Prozac Nation. I am really depressed right now. I am depressed because I am depressed. Does that make sense? Going into the dr because I have gained weight and am having dizzy spells I did not expect to be told that I am depressed. I'm always depressed, and lately, for the last couple of weeks or so I have felt more so, but it's a manageable thing. The dr (nurse practioner) believes that my depression is making me not lose weight and even gain it. That sucks so hard. Almost as hard as being told, "Here's some Prozac. It's not going to be in full effect for about 8-12 weeks and you will probably be on it for a minimum of 2 years. Congratulations! However, if we are right this will be the first step in helping you lose weight and feel great! I am proud of you (this was so a Paula Abdul moment) for being proactive! Way to go! Now here's a pill."

I hate this. I don't want to be on medication, but if it helps me feel better I want it more than anything in the world. argh.

Also, I got a tasty surprise from tigerlilith on the knittyboard. A nice package full of Carmel Shortbread or Millionaire's Shortbread. Yum. I haven't had it in nearly five years, can you believe? This stuff is delish. Somehow though, in light of recent events, I didn't eat the whole thing, and I only had 2 of the smarties she packed along with them. Smarties are sooo much tastier than M & Ms. (For you Americans, like me, Smarties are those nasty chalky sherberty halloween and kidzmix candies in a roll. For the Brits and others they are a cardboard tube filled with rainbow colored candy coated disks of chocolate that taste creamier and darker than M & Ms.) However, I don't like reusing the cardboard tubes nearly as much as the M & M mini's tubes. Those are like my own personal version of the chibis. Which I finally gave in and bought, crooked tip and all. My take, meh. Didn't really notice a difference.

So that's it for tonite. Toodles.

quilted knits (knitted quilts) ?

A long time ago, arond the beginning of the year I had a swap partner who was into quilting. She inspired me to try my hand at knitting a Log Cabin patterned square, and it was fun, but didn't go anywhere. Now, for the last few days I have been stumped as to what to do for my next 10 inch square for another afghan square swap I am in. So, I decided to do a crazy quilt type of square. We shall see how it goes. I am using purple, pink, mauve, and maybe one more color to finish it off. Then I will go back and use black yarn to embroider stitches just like the "real deal." I may be on to something. Anyhow, here's a pic of the log cabin square, front and back. pretty damn tidy if I do say so myself. oh yeah, click them for a close-up view)

The front of my log cabin square:

and the back of my log cabin square:

I got the pattern here: knitting-and.com I just looked and it's cool, she has a crazy quilt one too.

off to knit,
angela

PS thank you to Julie and Jess for commenting on my blog and letting me know what the x-files tried to teach me; "you are not alone" lol

Knit Night!

So, for the first time in oh, about a semester, I get to go to my guild meeting and have a sit down and chat with the ladies who knit. I am really looking forward to it.
Then tomorrow my dd graduates pre-K and goes into the world of real school. Good for her! I am happy. I also have a dinner date with a fellow student to talk about work and "story ideas" so cool for that.

BUT WHAT'S UNCOOL IS THIS:

Apparently attempting 16.5 units of school, working full time, and being a wife and mom was just plain flat out crazy. This last semester really screwed with me, I was sick, I was stressed, I stopped talking to all of my friends, I would knit and then not knit, and basically just got all FUNKY and for what? In the end I had to drop my alegbra class, but for some insanely moronic idea I thought I might at least pass my psychology: human sexuality class. ERM. Nope. Not a chance in you know where. Damn, damn, damn. Double double damn.

I am off to eat something chocolatey.

Oh one more thing. The beautiful, as of yet unphotographed Blue Mountain Fiber Arts Socks that Rock skein in the "jewels of the nile" distracted me out of 3 hours of television yesterday... when I went to try on the cuff for a sock I realized that it would suitably work for a garter, and that's saying a LOT for a woman of my size. ;) However, I learned how to do a stretchy cast on, and it was very stretchy!

sad lil bunny

yep, that's right. I are sad.

I got an A on my web2 final for an overall B. An A on my Lit of The Sea final for an overall B, and an A on my Advanced Creative fiction for an overall A. The grade for my Human Sexuality is still out-- I will swoon if I got a C. :( That's good news, right?

I wonder if anybody reads my blog. And, I wonder where the enormous ammounts of yarn I have bought recently went too.

Sniffle. It's a bad yarn day. I leave you with this:

Click for an upclose view. This is how far I have gotten on Rogue, I stopped working on it in January when I started working on my FIL's Irish Hiking Scarf, and haven't picked it up yet. Maybe I will get around to it soon.

Finally! (and welcome)

So we are finally published as the new site! theknittingdiva.com-- web 2 edition Want to compare? the web 1 edition. Let me know what you think.

So, welcome to my little effort to the blogging world. Now that spring semester is darn near over, I will have time to start posting lots of fun stuff on here. But for now, the yarn pic promised from the last post is currently being used as part of my header image. What do you think? It's soooo soft.

Take care til later,

Angela
