Secret Pal 8 Questionairre

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I love anything new and soft, I'd really love to try some of the newer natural fibers like bamboo, soya, the corn one, or the paper fibers, but good old silk and cashmere are cool too. I'm easy to please. I only dislike mohair and acrylics. Mohair makes my hands burn and turn red.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have 2 denise kits now and then a I have a super cute little case for my dpns. My old straights are in a highball glass.

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? 13-14 years I would say I am at advanced intermediate.

5. What's your favorite scent? Oooh, I like the homey scents like hazelnut, bannanut, mocha etc. I really dislike strong florals and jasmine can give me a migraine.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Not so much anymore. :(

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I spin and I do some beading, stitch markers, and occassionally good old regular crafty stuff. There's these Halloween Ukrainian Eggs on MarthaStewart.com that are chanting my name.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like all kinds of music and am always up for something new and finding new music or learning about something someone else is passionate about. I just bought the soundtrack to Walk the Line, the beggining steps of a iTunes Essentials playlist called "Asian Underground", made my own "The Doors" album, and did my own "the best of the Mamas and the Papas" so I am pretty varied. And now I am getting into metal/hardcore.

9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? My favorite color is purple! I love it, followed by the colors of a peacock, followed by jewel tones. Followed by pink but shhhhh don't tell. Hated colors inclued primaries or anything that screamys "child" or "kiddo!" unless I am shopping for my nephew or another child, but usually not even then. I just don't go for garish colors. I'm not a big fan of muddy colors either.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I'm married with 1 child, Megan. We have 2 dogs-- Ozzy and Roady, and 1 cat-- Driveby.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Scarves on occassion, hats occassionally, mittens rarely although I do like gauntlets in winter, and ponchos NEVER.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Toys. Stuff for other people. Something that is a challenge. Something odd ball or wierd. I loved knitting "womb" I've knitted 3. Just because--who else knits uteri? lol. I also like knitting bags, and apparently hats! (socks are kind of a given)

13. What are you knitting right now? *sigh* I am still knitting: the market squares bag, 3 for the road (from bags, a knitter's dozen), the bear fur rug from knit1, and of course the indomitable Rogue which I have been working on now for not quite 2 full years. I believe I got up the nerve to order it sometime around late summer 2004... as well as a logcabin blankie with my sister, the Simple Knitted Bodice, thigh high legwarmers, and bad juju.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?yes! Love to! very much so.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? circulars and dpns. Now I prefer the denise circulars above all else but as far as dpns I prefer metal or wood; both equally.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?Yes! thanks to ebay (the yarn winder) and an incredible and crafty husbeast (the swift) I have both!

17. How did you learn to knit? I took a class in the 7th grade.

18. How old is your oldest UFO? At the moment probaby Rogue because I gave up on everything else during a mad stash relocation soiree and ripped out anything I figured I wouldn't be finishing ever. :(

19. What is your favorite holiday? Does my birthday count? Halloween and Christmas, mostly because it's very easy to sink into the spirit.

20. Is there anything that you collect? sheep. If someone would like to donate a live one to my collection... lol. I also collect penguins, yarn, books, did I mention sheep? men as well, but don't tell dh.

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I don't have any knitting mag subscriptions except Cast On. Oh! There's an old Leisure Arts leaflet called "Modular Knitting" but it is about 12 different patterns for counterpanes put together to make an afghan and some cushions. I had it once and lost it. I would love to have it again. I'd also like more sock patterns.

22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? I'd like to learn socks on circular needles even though I really enjoy them on dpns and I would really like to do more modular stuff like counterpanes.

23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? Yes. Um women's size 8.5 and shrinking.
